Review: LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales on Disney+
Following the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special, and just in time for Halloween, LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales debuted October 1, 2021 on Disney+. We watched this short film and what follows is our LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales review!
The film posters are very well done. They look scary, but really are scarier than we found the actual film to be.
This special takes place after the events of The Rise of Skywalker. Poe and BB-8 find themselves crash landed on the Sith planet Mustafar. They soon discover that Darth Vader’s old castle is being renovated into a luxury Sith-inspired resort by Graballa the Hutt. Poe and BB-8 need their X-Wing repaired, but before Graballa will let his mechanic, Dean, fix the ship, he wants Poe to agree to help him advertise his hotel. The lone resident of the castle, Darth Vader’s loyal servant Vaneé, lures them deep into the mysterious structure. While they travel, Vaneé shares three creepy stories.
The Three Terrifying Tales
The first terrifying tale is called “The Lost Boy.” It expands more on the story of how Ben Solo became Kylo Ren. It also introduces the character Ren, who is the leader of the Knights of Ren. Find out more about how Ben joins the Dark Side and how he gets his name!
The second terrifying tale is “The Dueling Monstrosities.” This refers to Darth Maul and General Grievous! Darth Sidious sends them on a search for the Saber of Scardont.
The third, and last, terrifying tale is “The Wookie’s Paw.” It is told in the style of the new “What If…?” Marvel show. The story imagines what happens when Luke Skywalker joins the Empire and eventually the Dark Side, working with his father, Darth Vader.
The film is visually impressive, with great voice acting. And it also includes the iconic LEGO humor you have come to expect if you have watched any prior LEGO shows. It is entertaining for both kids and adults alike. Here you can see BB-8 gets into some paint and then ends up looking like a Halloween pumpkin!
Is LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales Too Scary?
The program is rated TV-Y7-FV. This means it is most appropriate for children age 7 and up and has fantasy violence that may be more intense or more combative than other TV-Y7 shows.
I definitely agree with this recommendation. I would not want my toddler to watch this show as I think it would be too scary for him. If in doubt, you can always watch it first to gauge how scary it may be for your kids.
How Long is the Film?
The run time of LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales is 46 minutes.
