<hr class="wp-block-separator"/>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Two LEGO Education and two LEGO City minifigures will be launching to space on the Orion spacecraft. They will be joining the uncrewed Artemis I mission. This is a part of the LEGO Group&#8217;s <a href="https://education.lego.com/en-us/build-to-launch" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Build to Launch: A STEAM Exploration Series</a> in partnership with NASA. The LEGO Education SPIKE Prime minifigure characters Kate and Kyle will be joined by LEGO City minifigures Julia and Sebastian.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The LEGO Space Team</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">You can learn all about the entire <a href="https://thebrickparent.com/tag/lego-space/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">LEGO Space</a> Team with these <a href="https://education.lego.com/v3/assets/blt293eea581807678a/blt982122bda12c4541/612e2b2e8e16ab655b347a1a/LEGO_Space_Team_Cards_8.5x11.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">printable cards</a>. Check out the ones for Kate and Kyle below who are going to be travelling to space!</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Kate: Command Pilot</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Kate is the Space Team&#8217;s Command Pilot. She holds both a Bachelor&#8217;s and Master&#8217;s Degree in Aerospace Engineering. In the past, she used to be a LEGO City commercial pilot! She also rides a motorcycle. I really like her idea for a sushi restaurant and karaoke place called &#8216;Tunes and Tuna&#8217;!</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Kyle: Pilot</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Kyle is the pilot on the Space Team. He has a Bachelor&#8217;s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master&#8217;s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Formerly, he worked as a pilot for the LEGO Postal Service. Also, he is a singer for a Taylor Swift cover band!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Both of these team members are highly qualified. I bet they are looking forward to their journey to space!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Build To Launch: A STEAM Exploration Series</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Build to Launch Series is a free, 10-week digital learning series made in partnership between the LEGO Group and NASA. The NASA Artemis missions serve as inspiration for various STEAM careers and concepts. It can be tailored for K-12 teachers and used with other LEGO Education products. </p>

<blockquote class="wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow"><p>Sending Kate and Kyle to space is an exciting culmination of the Build to Launch learning series and truly is a once in a lifetime real-world application for students.</p><cite>&#8211; <a href="https://www.lego.com/en-us/aboutus/news/2021/november/minifigures-launch-into-space" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Esben Stærk, president of LEGO Education</a></cite></blockquote>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The curriculum teaches concepts such as critical thinking, problem solving, and creativity. There are three main learning themes which include &#8216;Getting to Space&#8217;, &#8216;Testing and Transport&#8217;, and &#8216;Working in Space&#8217;. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Students and teachers can use the hashtag #BuildtoLaunch to ask questions and share their stories with the LEGO Space Crew. Visit the <a href="https://education.lego.com/en-us/build-to-launch" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Build to Launch Website</a> for lots of downloads and more information on how to participate. </p>

<p class="has-text-align-center has-small-font-size wp-block-paragraph"><em>Photos used with permission. ©2021 The LEGO Group.</em></p>

<hr class="wp-block-separator"/>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A design has been chosen for the first ever <a href="https://thebrickparent.com/tag/lego-ideas/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">LEGO Ideas</a> puzzle, as the winner of the &#8220;You&#8217;re the Final Piece&#8221; contest. The <a href="https://ideas.lego.com/blogs/a4ae09b6-0d4c-4307-9da8-3ee9f3d368d6/post/6d43ab25-5b2c-4022-a570-2a3e203f66aa" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Puzzle Review Board</a> chose <em>Space: Minifigure Logo</em> by <a href="https://ideas.lego.com/profile/aido_k/entries?query=&amp;sort=top" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">aido_k</a> as the grand prize winner! This design clearly is the winner with 1402 votes.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Space-Minifigure-Logo-LEGO-Ideas-Puzzle.png?resize=1024%2C768&#038;ssl=1" alt="Space Minifigure Logo LEGO Ideas Puzzle" class="wp-image-2185" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Space-Minifigure-Logo-LEGO-Ideas-Puzzle.png?resize=1024%2C768&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Space-Minifigure-Logo-LEGO-Ideas-Puzzle.png?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Space-Minifigure-Logo-LEGO-Ideas-Puzzle.png?resize=768%2C576&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Space-Minifigure-Logo-LEGO-Ideas-Puzzle.png?w=1080&amp;ssl=1 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /><figcaption> <em>Photos used with permission. ©2021 The LEGO Group.</em></figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This is a really awesome design and will be made into a 1000-piece puzzle. You cannot purchase the puzzle yet, but the release date is around May 2022. The details on the retail price will be forthcoming.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The puzzle includes lots of great details and things for the builder to find. You can discover spaceship parts, minifigure accessories, and fun space scenes. Additionally, once you assemble the puzzle it will be at minifig scale. You will likely not be able to find all of the cool hidden items until it is all put together!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Furthermore, the LEGO Ideas team also revealed an early mockup of the packaging. Although it might not be the final design, it still looks really great.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="990" src="https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Space-Minifigure-Logo-LEGO-Ideas-Puzzle-Packaging.png?resize=1024%2C990&#038;ssl=1" alt="Space Minifigure Logo LEGO Ideas Puzzle Packaging" class="wp-image-2186" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Space-Minifigure-Logo-LEGO-Ideas-Puzzle-Packaging.png?resize=1024%2C990&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Space-Minifigure-Logo-LEGO-Ideas-Puzzle-Packaging.png?resize=300%2C290&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Space-Minifigure-Logo-LEGO-Ideas-Puzzle-Packaging.png?resize=768%2C742&amp;ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Space-Minifigure-Logo-LEGO-Ideas-Puzzle-Packaging.png?w=1080&amp;ssl=1 1080w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /><figcaption> <em>Photos used with permission. ©2021 The LEGO Group.</em></figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This puzzle is the product of another collaboration between <a href="https://lego.chroniclebooks.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">LEGO Ideas x Chronicle Books</a>. In addition, several great puzzles are already available, such as the LEGO Ice Cream Dream Puzzle and LEGO Minifigure Puzzle.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">We really love this design and can&#8217;t wait for it to be in stores! Personally, I love puzzles and like to glue them together for really cool works of art. However, it is always difficult to find the right sized frame to display them!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Are you excited for this LEGO Ideas puzzle? Or have you put together any other LEGO puzzles? Let us know in the comments below!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Explore a planet&#8217;s surface and discover rare elements with this LEGO Space Mine diorama by <a href="https://www.instagram.com/noppi.mocs/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Noppi</a>. Space is one of my favorite themes and has been around since 1964! This planet&#8217;s surface is rich with materials and a mining operation is in full swing. The incredible detail shows the full lifecycle of the mining process. The scale of the mine is really massive, and I like how it is set to minifigure scale.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image is-style-default"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="750" height="750" src="https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Space-Mine-1.jpg?resize=750%2C750&#038;ssl=1" alt="LEGO Space Mine" class="wp-image-721" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Space-Mine-1.jpg?w=750&amp;ssl=1 750w, https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Space-Mine-1.jpg?resize=300%2C300&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Space-Mine-1.jpg?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w, https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Space-Mine-1.jpg?resize=80%2C80&amp;ssl=1 80w, https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Space-Mine-1.jpg?resize=320%2C320&amp;ssl=1 320w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></figure></div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">An incredible shot of a mining vehicle&#8217;s hanger. Check out the smoke coming out of the industrial pipes. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image is-style-default"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="750" height="750" src="https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Space-Mine-2.jpg?resize=750%2C750&#038;ssl=1" alt="LEGO Space Mine Mining Vehicle" class="wp-image-722" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Space-Mine-2.jpg?w=750&amp;ssl=1 750w, https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Space-Mine-2.jpg?resize=300%2C300&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Space-Mine-2.jpg?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w, https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Space-Mine-2.jpg?resize=80%2C80&amp;ssl=1 80w, https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Space-Mine-2.jpg?resize=320%2C320&amp;ssl=1 320w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></figure></div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I picture this vehicle scouting the planet&#8217;s surface, and illuminating the area to quickly spot rare elements. The building behind it part of the rock formation, which makes great use of the terrain. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A rear view truly shows the massive scale of this model, compared to the vehicles and spaceships. Be sure not to miss the bones of some space creature in the foreground. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image is-style-default"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="667" height="667" src="https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Space-Mine-4.jpg?resize=667%2C667&#038;ssl=1" alt="LEGO Space Mine Rear View" class="wp-image-724" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Space-Mine-4.jpg?w=667&amp;ssl=1 667w, https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Space-Mine-4.jpg?resize=300%2C300&amp;ssl=1 300w, https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Space-Mine-4.jpg?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w, https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Space-Mine-4.jpg?resize=80%2C80&amp;ssl=1 80w, https://i0.wp.com/thebrickparent.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Space-Mine-4.jpg?resize=320%2C320&amp;ssl=1 320w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 667px) 100vw, 667px" /></figure></div>
