This past week, I was asked by a friend to try and find a LEGO Stranger Things set. The timing was great, because I was planning on taking a trip to the LEGO Store anyways! Also on the agenda is to look for more Mickey and Friends sets to complete my collection. It was surprising to find a 10% off sale on LEGO sets with damaged boxes. I have never seen before! Let’s take a look at how the trip went!

There is a nice new LEGO Super Mario display up in the front window. As you might remember, I picked up LEGO 71360 Super Mario Adventures with Mario Starter Course and LEGO 71387 Super Mario Adventures with Luigi Starter Course on sale at my recent trip to Costco. The social distancing queue is still up due to COVID-19, however, did not require use because there were not that many people inside on a Monday afternoon.

In addition to trying to find the Stranger Things set, I was on the lookout for LEGO 10776 Mickey & Friends Fire Truck & Station and LEGO 10774 Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse’s Space Rocket. I wanted to complete my collection of the 5 sets in this new Disney subtheme released so far. Be sure not to miss our review of LEGO 10772 Mickey Mouse’s Propeller Plane! As you can see, both of these missing sets are here! They had a nice collection of Disney sets with both the castle and train & station in stock.

One of the great things about this LEGO store is that they have a permanent sale section! The discounts aren’t super large, but it is nice if you can find something that you want. I have found better sales on LEGO DOTS at Target.

Something I have never encountered before is this large table in the middle for LEGO sets that are 10% off. All of these boxes are damaged and are now marked as 10% off. After receiving damaged boxes in the mail from online purchases, it would be nice to get 10% off, wouldn’t it?

Here is a close up view of the sticker. These boxes are pretty beat up. A 10% off sale on LEGO is pretty substantial, especially on set like this which is several hundred dollars. I thought long and hard about picking this set up. I ultimately decided against it because I do like to collect the boxes as well.

Alright, it is finally time to look for what we came to the store to get, LEGO 75810 The Upside Down! There are actually about 4 to 5 in stock!

Couldn’t miss the opportunity to take some pictures of this amazing box before delivering it to my friend!

I am so glad I was able to find the Stranger Things set, but also the missing Mickey sets I wanted! The 10% off sale on damaged LEGO boxes was definitely a surprise bonus! Welcome to our review of LEGO 10772 Mickey Mouse’s Propeller Plane! This was my first 4+ set build ever, and was very special because I got to share it with my 3-year-old son. It was also his first ever LEGO set build! The 4+ parts and instructions were easy to follow and we had a lot of fun flying the plane around our LEGO city afterwards. The pilot Mickey minifigure is a great addition to our collection.

Packaging

At only 59 pieces, the box is on the smaller side, but a lot is packed in. The front showcases the three main parts of this build: the airplane, flag pole, and service station. Notice the new “Mickey and Friends” theme logo in the bottom right corner.

Even more play ideas are located on the back of the box. This is a 4+ set which helps kids learn how to build.

Instructions

The instruction booklet is rather thick for a build of this size, but this is because the 4+ builds have simpler instructions. It was easy for my 3-year-old to follow. The airplane is saved for last.

Minifigures

Only 1 minifigure comes with this set, but it is an adorable Mickey Mouse Pilot. The front view showcases his pilot’s jacket, goggles, and pilot wings. The back view shows his pilot’s scarf, which I didn’t notice at first when looking at him from the front. You can set a bit of red above his jacket collar.

Build

With 3 different builds, a lot is packed into this 59 piece set. The green flag and flag pole is pretty basic, but a nice addition to check which way the wind is blowing! The Mickey head service station is a great addition, and adds a lot to the play time.

The airplane is cute, but rather simple. The best part are the Mickey logos on the wings. The airplane only has wheels in the front, which gives it that characteristic angled look, but it would be nice to have a third wheel in the back. It’s a little unimaginative, but it is a small set. I think a biplane might have been a better choice.

The parts look great all together and Mickey can’t wait to jump in a get flying!

Conclusion

Overall, this is a great build for the price point and 4+ target age. The Mickey Mouse Pilot minifigure is super cute and will look amazing with our other LEGO Disney minifigures. The included service station adds a lot to the fun as you can repair and refuel the plane between flights. We are big Disney fans so this set is a wonderful addition to our collection.
